Poke

What is poke? It's not poke or po-kee; it is pronounced as "poh-kay", which means, "to cut crosswise into pieces." Poke is a staple dish in Hawai'i. Think of it as deconstructed sushi.

Originating as an appetizer, Hawaiian poke is essentially seasoned tuna over a bowl of rice. When poke migrated to the mainland, people put their own twists on the original. Nowadays, a large variety of poke is available, with different types of raw or cooked fish, rice or salad base, toppings such as edamame, seaweed salad, avocado, pineapple and more, all topped with an array of sauces.

Here at Ali'i Poke, we are making poke a meal with different variations and styles to appeal to everyone. We suggest you to try the classic style, but your poke can be as simple or as fancy as you like! Get creative! Poke is healthy, delicious and we're sure you'll be back for more!

Poke is great for a quick bite, get-togethers, business lunches, or a meal with the family. We want our poke to bring people together. So take a look at the menu, decide what tickles the taste buds today and order like there is no tomorrow. Then sit back, imagine you are in Hawai'i and enjoy your creation. When you are done, you can tell people you just got poke'd at Ali'i Poke.

Happy Poke'ing.
